In the summer of 1999 I made, as I often did, a drawing in my diary. After more than 10 years I made this painting from that sketch.

‘That we may remember this place with good feelings.’

After an intensive camper trip to and across Greece, it was quite a relief for our children Dorus, Teun and Greetje to spend a relaxing week on a nice campsite, such as the one at the lake of Trasimeno (Italy).

Liesbeth and I also enjoyed this rest, in the company of our friends Jan and Marij Brans and with their children Marjolein and Pieter.

To me, relaxation and enjoyment included much reading and writing, and also bike rides on my ATB in the early morning or late afternoon. Armed with my drawing supplies, acrylic paint and a bottle of water ‘for general use’, I was also on the hunt for a ‘spot’.

I found such a place in Passignano itself, and made a drawing in my journal.
